Special 1000th Post: Hiram Culterson

"Sylvia honey, for the last time, it's not a cult!" said Hiram. "It's just me and a few guys who get together a couple of times a week in a religious sect generally considered to be extremist and who engage in unorthodox ceremonies and arcane, sometimes illegal rituals under the guidance of a charismatic leader! Now if that's your definition of a cult, then I don't know what this world's coming to."

Hiram was drawn in Photoshop on the graphic tablet.

Here's the original notebook doodle of Hiram. Note that initially he was being lectured to by some sort of giant angry germ or microbe. I was going to go ahead and add the germ to the drawing, but thought it was a little too bizarre and dropped him.

Here's the second, tighter digital sketch of Hiram. You can see that the hilt of his knife is the same as in the final drawing, but I ended up enlarging the blade quite a bit because why not? I also added the Mystic Eye pendant in the final drawing because once I started adding color his robe looked a little too plain without something to break it up a bit.

And now on a totally unrelated topic: according to the Blogger Counter this is officially my ONE THOUSANDTH BLOG POST!!! Woohoo! One thousand posts since I started my blog way back on May 3, 2009! And ten or twenty of them have actually been somewhat good! Can you believe it? Congratulations to me!
