Overheard At Work: Scales

I work in a typical office, surrounded by many other workers in cubicles. Although I'm grateful to have a job I like, sometimes the vocal din from the surrounding coworkers is a bit overwhelming. Not to mention odd. Thank the gods old and new for headphones and Pandora.

The following is a 100% true actual conversation I Overheard At Work:
Woman In Lunchroom Kitchen: I love this brand of tuna, but sometimes I find these gross "skin flakes" in it.
Um… would that be the same thing as a fish scale?

  1. When you post your "Overheard At Work" segments I have to wonder if any of your coworkers read your blog. And if so have you experienced interoffice repercussions?

  2. Ha! Good question. I try to keep the existence of my blog on the down low, so few of them are aware of it. I also keep a file of bizarre coworker comments, and wait a few weeks or even months before using one. So these "Overheard" posts aren't happening "live" or in real time. By the time I post something I heard, the speaker probably forgot they ever said it.
