Bob, I happen to work for Cripe Engineering for 28 years and have heard that a lot. Along with Holy Cripes and other versions. We have heard them all and take them in stride. I'm just glad that Mr. Cripe's first name was Paul and not Jesus.
Ha ha! As someone who also has an unusual last name, I can definitely relate.

I saw this van in town today. I couldn't believe it was real, and I drove around the block so I could slip in behind it and snap a photo.
