The Never-Beginning Story

As regular readers of my blog (both of you!) know all too well, I'm a big fan of The Orville, Seth MacFarlane's shameless homage to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Ever since the show moved from Fox to Hulu, I've been anxiously awaiting the premiere of Season 3 of the show.

And waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and...

Due to the whole pandemic thing and other production issues, the series has been delayed an inordinate number of times. Finally last month, Hulu announced announced that The Orville Season 3 would premiere on March 10, 2022.

Note that the Season 2 finale originally aired on April 25, 2019— meaning the show would return almost THREE YEARS LATER! Holy crap! Three years! No matter what problems the producers faced, that seems excessive. In fact I quipped that by the time the series returned, Marcus Finn would have a wife and kid of his own, and his brother Ty would be getting his space driver's license!

Welp, it's now even worse than that! Today Hulu released a sneak peak trailer, which announced the show will now be returning on June 2, 2022! So it'll be OVER three years between seasons!

Jaysis, the first episode of the season's gonna have to reintroduce the audience to the characters, as they'll have forgotten who's who by now!

I can only hope my distant descendants will enjoy this show as much as I did in my lifetime.
