Back In Business!

And we're back!

As I mentioned earlier this week, I was typing away on my trusty laptop, and after a while I looked up at the screen and saw a bunch of gibberish. Apparently one side of the keyboard had decided to stop working. Luckily it was the side containing the "E," "R" and "T" keys. I never use those!

I googled the problem, and found out it was most likely a hardware issue. I thought about taking it in to get it fixed, but then realized that'd likely cost $200, maybe even $250. That's a good way toward the price of a new one!

I have no idea how old the faulty one was, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least a decade old. So I decided to put it out to pasture and get a new one.

I did a little bit of research, and saw one that looked suitable at Best Buy. I went there after work on Wednesday and bought it. I took it home, set it up and... the space key didn't work.

Oh Universe. You are hiLARious!

Jesus Christ, that's the whole reason I was getting a new one because of a faulty keyboard. And now this new one was glitching fresh out of the box!

So I packed it up and trudged back to the store to return it. Surprisingly they didn't raise a stink and let me exchange it (probably because I'd only had it for an hour). I brought the replacement home, and... so far, so good. I can type all the letters, and even put spaces between them. Huzzah!

Now that I think about it, this same thing happened two or three years ago when I bought a router at Best Buy. I set it up and it was so slow it literally took five minutes to open a web page. Naturally I thought I just didn't have it set up right, so I reinstalled and troublshooted for an entire day. Eventually I came to the conclusion it was a faulty router. Took it back, got a new one and it's been smooth sailing since.

Anyway, it took a day or so to set up this new laptop and get used to it. Annnnnnd then I got sick, thanks to my wonderful co-workers who refuse to stay home when they're ill. So I haven't felt much like posting for the past few days. I'm back now though! On with the nitpicking!
