Shapely!

Congratulations to The Shape Of Water for winning the 2017 Best Picture Oscar. It was my favorite movie of "last year," even though it didn't get to see it until 2018, when it finally made it to my two horse town.

It's the best "Cold War Bestiality Fairy Tale For Adults" I've seen in quite a while, and I enjoyed it a lot. In fact I ended up seeing it twice!

For once the Academy members pulled their heads out of their asses and agreed with me, handing out the Best Picture award to a film that actually deserved the title!

Normally I don't give two shi..., er, hoots about the Oscars, and haven't for decades. I quit paying attention to them the year they gave the Best Picture nod to Annie Hall instead of Star Wars. OK, even I have to admit Annie Hall was probably better written and acted, but which movie are people still talking about forty plus years later? When's the last time anyone went to an Annie Hall convention, or bought an Alvy Singer action figure?

But I digress.

Kudos as well to Guillermo de Toro, who (co) wrote and directed the film. He's always been kind of hit or miss as far as I'm concerned sometimes his work is great, other times I think it stinks on ice. He definitely hit it out of the park with The Shape Of Water, in my opinion. Not only is it a great story, but it's a joyful celebration of the medium of film as well.

And I swear I'm working on a proper review! Somehow I've fallen hopelessly behind on my reviews, but it's coming, I promise!
