Something I doodled a while back and finally got around to illustrating.As usual, a simple little drawing mushroomed into something much more complicated. While I was drawing Alien Abe, the idea to turn it into a pseudo 1970s-style movie poster popped into my head, complete with folds and aging effects.
I'm not sure about that tag line, but it was the best I could come up with. It's tough to turn a Lincoln quote into a violent movie catchphrase.
I haven't quite decided on an origin for Alien Lincoln. Maybe he came to Earth in the 1860s and was so impressed with the real Lincoln that he shape shifted to resemble him and tries to live by his example (but doesn't quite measure up to the philosophies of the Great Emancipator). Or maybe not.
I need to work on the red stripe some more. I think it needs to look more like splashed blood. Not entirely happy with the Lincoln logo either, so I may tweak that as well. I'm happy with the way the steampunk raygun turned out though.

ReplyDeleteThanks! I don't know where I got the idea. I was just doodling one day and this came out of the pen. It was such a dumb idea I had to draw it up!
ReplyDeleteIt would probably work better as a comic book than a movie. If I made it into a comic it would be fun and not take itself seriously. I wouldn't even worry what time period it was in-- vaguely early 1960s maybe, but with some futuristic technology, like Jack Kirby comics.
I know this is an old post and I apologize, but I had an idea and figured you'd appreciate the sharing of that idea. :) (I've ended up here, or rather first at "Henri du Saturn" from a Google Image Search.) So the idea is for where you said you wanted the stripe to look more like splashed blood. How about if it was a blood streak, like the result of dragging a bloody corpse? It might be morbid :), but it would really only be the blood trail the way I saw it in my head, so maybe not. Anyway, I like the alien drawings!
