Monster Girl

Looks like the "little princess" fad is infecting monster society too.

If you think she's a monster now, wait until she turns 21. Nothing worse than a high-maintenance monster with an attitude of entitlement.

Monster Girl was drawn in Photoshop on the graphic tablet.

Here's the original digital sketch of Monster Girl. Once I started drawing her for real I decided I didn't like her mouth and teeth, so I changed it.

Out Of Context Star Trek Moment #2

I've been an avid Star Trek fan for many decades. I've seen every episode countless times, I've got tons of reference and behind-the-scenes books, action figures, model ships, trading cards-- you name it, I've got it. With that said, even I have to admit that certain episodes could get a little silly now and then, especially when viewed out of context.

So sit back and enjoy this totally Out Of Context Star Trek Moment.

TOGA! TOGA! TOGA! Cheez, Kirk's skirt is shorter than the women's!

By the way, I will not be picking on the Original Series exclusively. There are plenty of bizarre Out Of Context moments to be found in the other incarnations of Trek.

Have A Sip!

Go ahead, have a sip of my potion! Don't worry about the calories, it's DIEt! Get it? DIE-it!

Yes, it's jokes like TV horror hosts used to tell.

The character is a vector drawing, done in InDesign. I imported him into Photoshop to add a scratchy, painterly background and a grunge texture on top of everything.

Here's the original sketch. I decided at the last minute to move his nose up closer to his eyes.

Out Of Context Star Trek Moment #1

I'll say this for him, Chekov had a hell of a vertical leap back in the day!

The Conversation

Hmm, I wonder what they could be talking about? Who conducted the better recording of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Leonard Bernstein or Herbert Von Karajan? Perhaps they're discussing which is the better wine, Mounton Rothschild or Chateau Margaux? Or maybe who was the hotter monster mom, Lily Munster or Morticia Addams?

We may never know.

This is a vector drawing, done all in InDesign.

Pleasant Shopping!

According to a recent study by the University of Arizona, 72% of all shopping cart handles contain traces of fecal matter.

I'm honestly surprised the percentage is that low.

Shrunken-Head Joe Action Figure

In 1998 my friend KW Monster created a character called Shrunken-Head Joe to star in a comic strip in the local free newspaper. Joe was a swinging singer/adventurer who traveled the world with his inexplicably hot girlfriend Gwen. Oh, and Joe just happened to have a shrunken head. I read it in the paper, became a big fan, contacted KW by email, and a friendship was born.

After our first collaboration, I decided to make a customized action figure of Shrunken-Head Joe for KW.

Read the rest (and see more photos) after the jump!

Advertising Mascot In Search Of A Product

We're living in tough economic times. Even advertising mascots are feeling the pinch. Grunkdon here's ready and willing to be the official mascot of a product. Any product. Seriously. He doesn't care. Cereal, fast food, laundry detergent. Heck, he'll even hawk hemorrhoid cream.

I used to love all the animated advertising mascots of the 1960s and 1970s such as the Raid Bugs, Quisp and Quake. I used to spend hours trying to draw the characters I'd see in commercials. They don't seem to use advertising mascots so much anymore. Too bad.

A quick vector drawing done in InDesign.
