Multiverse Of Lyman

A while back I pointed out that Ferris Bueller's Dad in Ferris Bueller's Day Off...

Looked a lot like Neal Paige's colleague in Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

From this I posited that the two characters were the same person, and the films were part of a new cinematic universe.

Welp, that universe just got a little bigger! During my annual viewing of Independence Day this year, I noticed that one of President Whitmore's Secret Service agents looked surprisingly familiar!

Apparently this character (played by actor Lyman Ward) is the father of Ferris Bueller and worked at a marketing agency in Chicago back in the 1980s. Then at some point in the 1990s he became bored with his job and opted for a career in presidential security.

This means that all three of these films exist in the same universe. Let's all hope that Ferris Bueller, Neal Page and Dell Griffith all survived the Battle Of '96 between humanity and the alien invaders!
