Life Imitates Trek: WWIII

I don't want to alarm everyone, but according to the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Encounter At Farpoint, WWIII began (will begin) in the far off year of... 2026 (!).

The war involved numerous nations, including the United States and the Eastern Coalition, whatever that is. There were several nuclear strikes, which resulted in 600 million casualties. The war ultimately ended in 2053.

Based on the fact that the Convicted Felon who currently inhabits the White House just launched an illegal war against Iran, it looks like the Trek timeline is proceeding right on schedule.

But hey, there is one small sliver of hope-- if we can manage to survive WWIII, then the Vulcans make first contact with Earth on April 5, 2063. That event marked Earth's inclusion into the galactic clubhouse, and spurred the formation of the United Federation Of Planets. So we've got that to look forward to...
