This is my semi-annual reminder to everyone that Universal once tried to ape the massive success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and failed spectacularly.
Hey, remember three years ago when The Mummy premiered, and Universal Studios announced their new Dark Universe? You know, their shared movie universe that was gonna give the MCU a run for its money?
Remember that? I know I do! I can't wait to see more thrilling adventures from Tom Cruise as an immortal mummy man as he... ohhhhhhhhh. Right.
How embarrassing!
There's a lesson here for other studios, even though they'll never learn from it. Something about chickens, eggs and hatching.
