Things I Would Tweet If I Tweeted: Ryan Lochte
A couple of weeks ago Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and several of his dude-bros allegedly destroyed a gas station bathroom in a drunken rage. When confronted by the Rio authorities, Lochte stated they'd been robbed at gunpoint by local thugs, a claim which has since been disproved.
Lochte's idiotic antics reportedly caused him to lose all FOUR of his lucrative product endorsement deals— including Speedo and Ralph Lauren— which will cost him millions.
Maybe if Mr. Lochte plays his cards right, he could get an endorsement deal with Massengill.

Close, But No Cigar
Last year I posted a story about an internet petiton to convince the Olympic Committee to let former Doctor Who star David Tennant light the 2012 Olympic Flame.
See, back in 2006 there was an episode of Doctor Who in which the Doctor and Rose skipped ahead a few years to 2012. The episode frankly wasn't very good, but it was notable for one thing: at the end, the Doctor picks up the Torch and lights the Olympic Flame in full view of the world at large.
As 2012 came closer, fans of the show realized that it would be pretty darn cool if David Tennant actually lit the torch for real, making a small part of the TV series come true. Hey, it's either that or convince DARPA to build a working TARDIS.
I'm happy to report the petition worked. Sort of.
This past Saturday, current Doctor Matt Smith carried the Torch through Cardiff, Wales, which just happens to be where the series is filmed.
So the Doctor lit the Flame after all! Except it wasn't the right Doctor. And he didn't actually light anything, he just carried the Torch. And it was in the wrong venue. In the wrong city. On the wrong date. At the wrong time of day. But hey, other than that, it was exactly like it happened in the episode!

Doctor Who: Life Imitating Art?
Yep, it's yet another Doctor Who related post. The staff here at Bob Canada's Blogworld lives and breathes Doctor Who, in case you couldn't tell.
In the 2006 Doctor Who episode entitled Fear Her, the Doctor (played by David Tennant) and Rose travel to London in the year 2012. There they encounter a super-powered little girl named Chloe Webber who's made all the other children in her neighborhood disappear. The Doctor realizes that if she's not stopped, Chloe will become powerful enough to make everyone in the world vanish.
Admittedly Fear Her wasn't the show's finest moment, but there was one part that stood out. At the end of the episode the runner carrying the Olympic Torch falters, so the Doctor picks up the torch and completes his run, lighting the Olympic Flame and kicking off the 2012 Olympic Games.
There's now an online movement to convince the Olympic Commission to let David Tennant (no doubt dressed as the Doctor) actually light the Olympic Flame for real! I honestly don't see it happening, but wouldn't that be cool? A scene from a TV show about a time traveler coming true five years later. Life imitating art and all that.
If you're interested, there's an online petition here. Who knows, if enough people sign it, maybe we can make this happen for real!
