Would You Like To Know More?

DATELINE: ARGENTINA- Tragedy struck this week when a meteor appeared over the skies of Buenos Aires on July 30th, completely obliterating the city.

These amateur photos show a glowing green space rock with a long orange tail streaking across the night skies. The meteor impacted the city seconds later.

Dr Francisco Diego, Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University College London, confirmed that the meteor did not originate from our own solar system.

According to Diego, the large rock came from the Klendathu system, homeworld of our enemy the insectoid Bug race. Diego theorized that the meteor was blasted out of orbit around Klendathu by Bug plasma, and sent hurtling toward Earth.

Nothing lives in what was once called the Latin paradise. Buenos Aires has been wiped from the Earth.

Out of the ashed of Buenos Aires comes first, sorrow...

 ...then anger.

In Geneva the Federal Council convened. In a rousing speech, Sky Marshal Dienes stated, "We must meet the threat with our valor, our blood, indeed with our very lives, to ensure that human civilization, not insect, dominates this galaxy now, and ALWAYS!"

The Federal Council then officially declared war on Klendathu and the Bug race.

The Federation's Space Fleet has been mobilized and is invading the Bug Homeworld as we speak.

Missed Us By THAT Much (Again)...

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your feelings toward our sewer of a world), the rogue asteroid is pretty small, around 60 feet wide. Heck, even if it did hit us, one that puny wouldn't even wipe out a medium sized city, much less our whole sorry civilization. Not to mention the fact that there was actually an even closer fly-by back in early 2013.

The really worrisome part of the story is that the asteroid wasn't discovered until August 31st, 2014– a scant seven days before its flyby! Hopefully when the big extinction-level rock is heading toward our globe, we'll have a bit more warning. You know, for panicking, looting and uncontrollably shrieking and such.

Missed Us By THAT Much...

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your feelings toward our sewer of a world), the rogue asteroid was pretty small, less than a football field in length. Even if it had plowed into the Earth it would only have vaporized a city or two. It wouldn't have wiped out our entire sorry civilization.

When Meteors Are Outlawed...

February 15, 2013

• Dateline: Central Russia. A meteor explodes over the Ural Mountain region in the early morning hours, the shockwave blowing out windows, damaging buildings and injuring over 1,200 people.

• Dateline: Planet Earth. Asteroid 2013 DA14 comes within a scant 17,000 miles of Earth; lower than even our communication satellites.

• Dateline: Northern California. A large meteor streaked through the skies of the northern portion of the state during the early evening.

Three separate attacks in one day.

Clearly this planet needs stricter meteor control laws...
